Geopolitical and geoeconomical problems of the transport corridor formation: the special case of TEBR-project (Trans-Eurasian belt of Razvitie)
Yury Gromyko, Moscow.
Discussing development of Transport and Infrastructure in Eurasia we emphasize a special case – Trans-Eurasian belt of Development (Razvitie). This project was elaborated and proposed by international interdisciplinary group of Russian, Italian, German, Japanese, Chinese and Brazilian specialists working in different research fields: infrastructure development, logistics, international finance and long-term investment mechanisms, new banking approaches, technological development, urban district planning, international relations, regional development etc... This project was aimed at political and economical solution to outline integrated infrastructure development in different regions of Russia and also in cross-border zones within different states of Eurasian continent.
According to the leader of this project Vladimir Yakunin "This is an inter-state, inter-civilization project. It should be an alternative to the current (neo-liberal) model, which has caused a systemic crisis. The project should be turned into a world 'future zone', and it must be based on leading, not catching-up technological development.
Within our vision the Trans-Eurasian belt of “Razvitie” (Development) implies principally new geo-economics, geopolitics, geo-finance, geo-juridical and geo-cultural concepts. It differs from a concept “land bridge” and “development corridor” that are simply integrated within this new emerging concept. Geo-economics novelty clues lie in the forming of the new pole of common wealth generation, evident on the background of existing world economics. The geopolitical aspect presupposes the creation of the new form of international cooperation within strategic planning and neo-industrial settling of a wide area. At last, geo-culture aspect clues in the display of the Eurasian ideology, based on the dialogue of civilizations.
The project is about forming a new type of platform for investment and economic development. The main aim of this project is to create a new wealth generating pole on the Russian territories (first of all, West Siberian, East Siberian and Far Eastern) together with Western Europe basing on friendly, neighboring and mutually profitable trade exchanges with China, Japan, North Korea and South Korea and technological transfer.
